General Information of the Training Course The programme will include lectures on clinical molecular diagnostics addressed to the use of molecular biology techniques in clinical microbiology, virology and parasitology. Practical activities in laboratory will be based on the experiences of the EQUAL-quant programme.
Scientific topics

The formal sessions of the course will address primary the following topics:

  1. Principles of molecular biology techniques in clinical medicine
  2. Methodological approaches for the detection of extra-human NA in human biological fluids and tissues
  3. Potential advantages and limits of the application of results in the clinical setting
  4. The importance of qualitative and quantitative techniques in clinical microbiology and virology
  5. Genotyping
  6. Quality Control Programs in Molecular biology techniques
Practical activities The main aim of the EQUAL Training Course in Hradec Králové is the improvement of the knowledge, theoretical and practical applications of molecular biology testing in clinical medicine, primary in clinical microbiology and virology. Theoretical part will be focused on the advantages and disadvantages of molecular biology testing in clinical microbiology and interpretation of the results.
Quality assessment techniques and method validation will be discussed during theoretical part, with specific focus on the EQUAL-quant Programme and the discussion of the results of this survey.
Practical Part of the Training Course will be dedicated to laboratory activities. The methodological skills required to improve analytical performance of the EQUAL-quant Programme will be reviewed during the Course and then tested allowing the participants to perform the Programme for the second time.
Comparison of the results after training will be used to judge the efficacy of the Course.
A specifically defined questionnaire will be also distributed to the participants at the end of the Course.
